Antonio “Nu Tone” Hernandez was born and raised in Stockton, California. At the age of 3 he was abandoned by his father leaving him fatherless. This resulted in his mother working day and night to provide for him and his 4 siblings. He grew up with gangsters as role models and eventually ended up starting to mimic them. Eventually he was expelled and kicked out of the San Joaquin school district. At the age of 16 he began rapping under the name “Filthy Tone”. On January 29, 2011 Antonio gave his life to the lord. He changed his name from “Filthy Tone” to “Nu Tone” not long after giving his life to Jesus. He did this as a sign of turning over a new life and showing he is new in Christ.

On his album “From Rags 2 Royalty” you can really see the love he has for ministry while in various tracks he shares portions of his testimony. Being a rare breed “Nu Tone” doesn't bend on his morals as you can see he keeps Christ at the center of this album. He really hits on how God took him from the streets of California to preaching the Gospel to those who have yet to hear it. You are really able to see Nu Tone's heart for his country and fellow Americans as the song “Pray 4 America” shows his desire to see this nation turn to the lord.

Having never heard of Nu Tone before I can say that I am now a supporter of his ministry. His take on Christian Hip Hop is something new and definitely bolder than I've seen from some other artists. I would highly recommend you go out and buy this album.

Salute and until next time God bless.
